Starting a food blog is easy. You might be choosing a host or just simply putting your ideas on paper, but that stuff is way easier that you might think. For most, a recipe or food blog comes naturally. You just have to TAKE ACTION and EXECUTE! People who take action are successful, and people who don't will never even have a chance to be great. Don't settle for the status quo, settle for being your best and trying new things. Starting a food blog is an easy way to take action, create a blog, create a community, try something new, and see if the internet is for you.
We will quickly go over the things that you will want to think about when creating your first food blog:
Discover your niche: If you aren't passionate about anything in-particular, you will want to use Google Keywords or another tool to research possible niches. You will want to pick a niche that is low competition and high in searches. This will make you stand out in search engines in the future if you decide to monetize your site.
Pick a domain name. Pick and buy a domain name that is specific to your food niche. You'll want a domain name that specifically tells your reader what your site is about, such as turkeyhotdogs.com. This has the keyword in the URL which will help search engines and your audience no what your site is about.
Choose a host. I always recommend BlueHost or InMotion Hosting to all my clients in followers. Both have simple WordPress installation. Both are very inexpensive and have good customer service. WordPress is the system you will want to use to create your site. WordPress will let YOU create beautiful, professional sites without having to know any coding.
Draw your site. Get a blank piece of paper, draw out what you want your site to look like, and then got to Google and search for WordPress themes. You'll probably find a theme that matches your design Now all you have to do is download it and install it. It is extremely easy.
Cook. Make a recipe, cook, take some pictures, and then put it on your website. Your cooking is the reason why you're starting this blog in the first place. So this should be the easy part, right?
Share your site. Leverage search engine optimization, social media, and recipe submission sites to get your message out to the whole world.
Repeat the cycle. After your done with your first post, do the same thing again. Cook more, take more pictures, write more, increase your audience, and change the world. You are going to discover that people really do want to see what you are cooking!
