By Quiana Lippe

We've all been taught the best steps to take to have optimum health. You need to make sure that you get enough exercise. You need to make sure you drink enough water. And, of course, you need to eat balanced, nutritious food. These are all good ideas, but suppose your immune system needs a power boost? During the change of seasons, are you feeling a little under the weather? Can you really go to your grocery store and buy certain foods to make your immune system stronger? Are there actually such things as superfoods? We're happy to tell you that superfoods do exist and some are specifically for boosting your immune system. Read on to learn about three superfoods that can help make your immune system stronger.

Pork chops may not be the first food that comes to mind when someone is discussing superfoods, but it can be very beneficial to maintaining a healthy immune system. If you don't eat meat, or at least not pork, you probably won't find this superfood useful, even though it's a true superfood. This superfood can stop weight loss if you eat just 6-ounces of pork chops daily. A person who is sick can stop the common weight loss that occurs during an illness by eating pork chops. I imagine a lot of you don't believe that it's a good idea to eat pork chops daily. The good news for people with cancer, is that pork chops provide a lot of selenium. Selenium is a natural antioxidant which fights cancer. Thankfully there are lots of really great ways to prepare pork chops so you can still get a fair amount of variety.

Peppermint is a great immune system boosting superfood. You may be surprised to know that peppermint is a great source of phosphorous, magnesium, and calcium. The health of your immune system depends on these nutrients. A nice advantage of peppermint is that it's easy to add to your diet. You can enjoy a nice cup of mint tea at the end of your day. Buy those little boxes of snack mints and munch on them. Your tossed green salad will benefit by the addition of a handful of fresh peppermint leaves. When you are making a stew, it makes a great addition to the flavor. The versatility of peppermint is wonderful. Peppermint Essential Oil is another great way to add peppermint to flavor many dishes you prepare.

Unfortunately, vampires can't benefit from this great food that strengthens your immune system - it's garlic. We'll be the first to admit that garlic has a strong odor. But it also has the nutrients you need to boost the power of your immune system. Uncooked garlic is the best way to get the benefits of the nutrients in this superfood. The power of garlic is best if you eat it uncooked, even though you may have to get used to doing this at first. Well, some of you just won't be able to deal with raw garlic, but you can still boost your immune system and add great flavor to your food if you include it in what you cook. Don't be afraid to use a lot of garlic. I have a great recipe called 40 Clove Garlic and it's delicious. Use as much as you can and you will feel wonderful.

There are so many different things that you can do to boost the power of your immune system.

Plan on thirty minute sessions of exercise three to five times weekly. It's important that you keep your body from becoming dehydrated by drinking pure water regularly during your waking hours. Get rid of junk food in your life and eat a balanced, nutritious diet of healthy foods. Nevertheless, the best idea - in order to prevent illness from striking - is to include immune-strengthening superfoods in your meal plan. Do some research online or buy a book on superfoods. That will give you even more to choose from than the three we've discussed in this report.
